The Municipal Police of the City of Krakow is a uniformed formation established to protect public order in the commune, performing tasks in this respect resulting from with the acts and acts of local law, using the powers provided for in Art. 12 of the Act of August 29, 1997 on Municipal Guards.
The priority tasks of the City Guard of the City of Krakow include: taking care of public order and the sense of security of the local community, preventing disturbance of public order and peace, preventing alcoholism, enforcing regulations related to maintaining cleanliness in public places and road traffic control.
Municipal Police officers are entitled to impose fines for certain types of offenses. In accordance with the provisions of the Code of Conduct in Cases for offenses, the person punished with a fine has the right to refuse to accept it. The penalty imposed by the city guard becomes legally binding upon receipt of its receipt by the punished person.
A validly imposed penalty may not be revoked, unless a fine was imposed for an act which is not a criminal offense. In such case, the waiver takes place at the request of the punished person submitted within 7 days from the date of the mandate becoming final or ex officio. The authority competent to hear such a case is only the court (District Court) in whose area the fine was imposed.
If the right to refuse to accept a penalty notice is exercised, an application for punishment is sent to the Court against the perpetrator.
In the light of the applicable regulations, the Commander of the City Guard does not have the power to cancel the imposed penalty notice.
If the person fined with the fine is not registered in the territory of the Republic of Poland, a cash fine is imposed, which must be paid directly to the guard who imposed the fine.

The Municipal Police may remove the vehicle (tow it away) from the road at the owner's expense (Art. 130a of the Road Traffic Act). The removed vehicle is transported to a paid guarded car park.

The basis for picking up the vehicle from the guarded car park is a permit issued by the officer on duty of the City Guard of the City of Krakow. The condition for issuing the permit is the presentation by the driver of an identity document, a document authorizing the use of the vehicle.
In the event of leaving the vehicle in a place where it is forbidden, officers of the City of Krakow Police may place a call for the driver behind the windshield wiper. In such a situation, the vehicle driver is obliged to report in person to the locally competent branch of the city guard (indicated on the summons), by 3 days from the date of the offense, in order to clarify the circumstances of the event.
In the event of failure to report the vehicle within the prescribed period, pursuant to art. 54 of the Act of August 24, 2001, Code of Conduct in Cases for offenses, explanatory actions will be initiated aimed at applying the sanctions provided for in the Code of Petty Offenses. Then the owner / owner of the vehicle will be summoned to the municipal police as a witness, and his appearance will be obligatory.
